WINTHROP, Mass. - For the first time this season, Regis (Mass.) men's volleyball freshman Inelson Alves (Brockton, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. He is the first Regis men's volleyball player to ever receive a GNAC Weekly Award.
Alves averaged 2.36 kills and 0.36 blocks per set per set in the Pride’s four GNAC matches last week. His biggest outing came in a five-set loss to Emmanuel with 12 kills on Saturday. He also recorded four blocks in the Pride’s sweep of Lasell on Saturday.
Junior Drew Beimel (Redondo Beach, Calif.) also got a shoutout from the conference this week, as he earned a spot on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll, averaging 2.47 kills and 1.94 digs per set in five matches this week.
Alves and the Pride will close out the regular season this week with a trio of home matches, starting on Tuesday night against Mount Ida College at Higgins Court. First serve from Weston is set for 7:00 p.m.
