Men's Volleyball Opens NECC Play with Win Over Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 sweep over Eastern Nazarene on Thursday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center to open up its final season of New England Collegiate Conference play in the win column.

The Lions sink to 3-3 on the year and 2-3 in the NECC. The Pride improves to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in league action with the outcome.

Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) paced the home team with eight kills and seven digs on the night. Derek Fowler (Williamstown, N.J.) notched four kills while Colin Fischer (Lansdale, Pa.) posted three kills and three digs. Matthew Tyree (Lansdale, Pa.) finished with 14 assists, three digs, and one service ace.

The visitors claimed a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-18 victory in the opening set.

Regis doubled its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-10 win in the second frame.

The Pride prevailed 25-11 in the third game to pick up its first conference victory of the season.

Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.) led Regis with 12 kills while Wade Robidoux (Granby, Mass.) chipped in with nine kills and Joe Hanrahan (Coventry, R.I.) handed out 33 assists.

Up next, Eastern Nazarene welcomes Pine Manor on Feb. 22 to cap off its seven-match home-stand, while the Pride travels to Nashua, N.H. to take on #13 Rivier and #7 Kean in a tri-match.
