WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's volleyball team swept through non-conference opponent City College of New York 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-20) Saturday afternoon on Higgins Court. With the victory, the Crimson and Gold even up their record at 10-10 and with the setback the Beavers drop to 7-13 on the year.

Senior captain Evan Stone (Stockton, Calif.) led the Pride attack with seven kills while teammate DJ Lyons (Colorado Springs, Colo.) matched him with seven kills and a .211 hitting percentage. Lyons also led the squad on the defensive side of the ball with seven digs. Jeff Ramos (Pawtucket, R.I.) chipped in with six kills, four digs, three blocks and Manny Santiago (Bristol, Conn.) added four kills, a .222 hitting percentage and a team-high five total blocks. Joe Hanrahan (Coventry, R.I.) dished out a game-best 27 dimes in the win.

Sebastjano Aga (Triana) led all players with 17 kills while adding three digs a two total blocks. David Cham (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led all Beaver defensive players with six digs while contributing five kills. Oleksandr Boychuk (Flushing, N.Y.) handed out 23 assists for CCNY.

Regis jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the first set thanks to strong services by Ramos and Stone cumulating in eight straight Regis points. Regis used another run with DJ Lyons serving and got kills by Stone, Santiago as well as an ace from Lyons to go up 24-9. CCNY added three straight points with a kills from Aga. The Pride took the set on the point with a kill by Stone set up by Hanrahan.

The Pride were up 7-1 in the second set before the Beavers engineered a comeback to come within one point twice near the end of the set. A Tommy Holzmacher (Merrick, N.Y.) kill made it 19-18 Regis before the Pride responded to go up two. A blocking error by Lyons cut the Beaver deficit to one, 21-20 before Regis won the set on an Aga attack error.

The Beavers started out strong in the third set building up an early 8-2 lead before the Pride came storming back to knot the game after Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) entered the game. Sindoni played only one set, but had a tremendous impact on the game. He recorded two kills on four attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, three digs on defense and came up with two total blocks in his time on the court. Hanrahan set up Lyons for a kill which forced the Beavers to take a timeout. After the timeout Regis took over the set and the game as they won the final set 25-20.

The Pride return to action on Wednesday when they welcome non-conference opponent Fontbonne for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
