PRIDE SPLIT TRI-MATCH AGAINST BLAZERS AND RAIDERS

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's volleyball split a tri-match against New England Collegiate Conference opponent Elms College and non-conference foe Rivier University on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson and Gold earned the 3-1 (25-12, 26-24, 20-25, 25-18) league win over the Blazers, but dropped a 3-2 (19-25, 26-24, 11-25, 25-19, 9-15) five set thriller against the Raiders. The split moved the hosts to 3-9 and 3-2 in the NECC.

As a team, Regis hit .372 against the Blazers while recording 16 total blocks. Elms could only muster a .176 hitting percentage throughout the match. The Pride were led by three players with double-digit kills as sophomore Marcos Aguirre (Norwalk, Calif.) had 11 kills with a .375 hitting percentage along with teammate Drew Beimel (Redondo Beach, Calif.). Beimel hit .500 during the matinee affair. Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.) had 10 kills as well along with seven digs, a team-high three service aces and two blocks. Junior setter Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) led the Crimson and Gold with 39 helpers and eight digs while Brandon Tordoff (Coventry, R.I.) had a match high seven total blocks.

Rivier 3 Regis 2

During the afternoon contest the Pride were led again by Aguirre who had 11 kills and a .348 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle blocker Brett Krahl (Santa Clarita, Calif.) recorded six kills, a .353 hitting percentage and two total blocks. Zach Sindoni led the match with 37 assists along with a kill, and a team best four total blocks. Bisnett was stellar on the defensive side with a team-high 11 digs and reigning NECC Rookie of the Week DJ Lyons (Colorado Springs, Colo.) chipped in with five kills and a dig.

Regis returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Newbury for a conference contest at 7:00 p.m.
