REGIS MEN’S VOLLEYBALL ANNOUNCES 2015 CLASS

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's volleyball team is pleased to announce its seven members of the class of 2015. The players come from all over the country including California, Rhode Island, and right here in Massachusetts.

Josiah Roque (Oxnard, Calif.) began playing volleyball his sophomore year of high school and immediately worked hard on his skill set in the sport until earning the starting opposite position for his varsity team. In his senior season, Josiah was named team captain and ranked the second-most efficient outside hitter in his high school league. Last season, Josiah recorded 251 kills and 37 service aces, both milestones for all league play. He ended up being named First Team All-League and Second Team All-County, and also was selected to play in the annual East vs. West All Star Game.

"I am honored to be playing for a school like Regis," said Roque. "Being Division III, it really is a big deal for me. I am very confident that we will be able to build on the success of last season, and I hope to have a major impact on that."

Jaey Cho (Wellesley, Mass.) comes to Regis with great aspirations for his education towards being a nurse and making great contributions on the court. A Wellesley native, Jaey moved here to Massachusetts after spending three years in Korea and another five in Ohio. Jaey also spent much of his time exploring other sports such as tennis, football and swimming, before falling into volleyball his sophomore year in high school. Jaey brings a young exuberance to the team with high hopes of being a strong contributor as both a setter and defensive player for the Pride as he begins his collegiate career.

Brett Krahl (Santa Clarita, Calif.), a former Cleveland, Ohio resident, discovered his passion for volleyball after moving to Santa Clarita, Calif. Brett has received several recognitions for his contributions on the floor, excelling at the middle blocker position. He was awarded the West Ranch High School Most Valuable Player and was also selected to the First Team All- Foothill League, along with First Team All-Santa Clarita Valley. During Brett's senior season, he recorded 250 kills and 88 blocks which helped lead his team to finish second in the league.

Brett also comes to Regis having experience playing for a prestigious California club, Legacy. As a member of that program they were able to earn top-five seeding within the state and nation as they progressed to the championships. Brett's parents Scott and Sharon are very excited to see their son competing at the next level as he looks to improve his talent at the collegiate level.

Another California native, Marcos Aguirre (Norwalk, Calif.) has been playing volleyball since the age of 13 and his involvement in the game at such a young age has paid of tremendously in high school, as he lettered three years in high school and was named captain his first two years at John Glenn. He is a standout outside hitter, earning First Team All-Suburban League both years and earning All-League MVP honors his junior year. Marcos holds the record for kills in a season (408) at John Glenn.

His senior year, he transferred to Santa Fe in Santa Fe Springs, California and started as their middle blocker. He was voted First Team All-Del Rio League after his team fell just shy of the Semifinals his senior year. Marcos aspires to become a High School History Teacher and coach Boys/Girls Volleyball team prior to graduation.

Ryan Thomas Husher (Camarillo, Calif.) has been playing volleyball for only three years after being a standout baseball player. He transitioned to the sport his junior year and picked up the game at an exceptional rate. In only his second year Ryan was named captain for Rio Mesa High School team and also made First Team All-League and was also elected as a West Side All Star.

Ryan Conte (Oxnard, Calif.) grew up playing soccer and baseball, but an injury at age 12 ended his baseball career. In high school, Ryan decided to play football and volleyball, improving rapidly from the start. Conte served as team captain for the football and volleyball teams, demonstrating great leadership ability and receiving accolades in both.

"I am excited about playing volleyball in college and to graduate college with a bachelor's degree in business from Regis College," said Conte.

Finally, Brandon Tordoff (Coventry, R.I.) joins the Pride after picking up the sport during his sophomore year of high school, becoming enamored with the sport and playing varsity all three years. As a senior, he was captain of the team and received Second Team All-Division and Second Team All-State honors as a middle blocker.

Following his high school career, Tordoff attended the Community College of Rhode Island for two years, where he was a member of the Club Volleyball Team, and was named a team captain. He rejoins current Regis team member Joe Hanrahan (Coventry, R.I.) as he prepares for his collegiate career.
