NASHUA, N.H. – Regis College dropped a 3-0 decision to Daniel Webster College on Wednesday night in New England Collegiate Conference men's volleyball action. The Eagles held off a much-improved Pride squad with set scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-17 that saw a combined total of 25 ties and six lead changes throughout the evening.

Current NECC Rookie of the Week Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.) was solid for Regis (6-6, 1-3 NECC), racking up a match-high 13 kills and added nine digs. Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) picked up 11 kills while Jon Fuentes (Downey, Cal.) and Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.) added four apiece. Joe Hanrahan (Coventry, R.I.) dished out 24 assists.

DWC's Joe Vargas (Lawrence, Mass.) matched a career-high knocking down 11 kills and Joel Hendrix (Kane'ohe, Haw.) added 10 of his own in the win. Vargas was nearly perfect, committing just one error in 12 attempts to hit a career-best .833.

Joe Walz (East Longmeadow, Mass.) tacked on eight kills for the Eagles (6-7, 4-0 NECC), while Darrien Mason (Farmington, Conn.) added a spark with five to go with three total blocks (two solo). Ryan Howdeshell (Fairbanks, Alaska) chipped in with four kills and led defensively with a match-best 13 digs. Ariel Frias (Lawrence, Mass.) handed out 31 assists.

DWC hit .244 as a team to .194 for Regis and finished with overall advantages in kills (39-35), assists (34-29), aces (5-4), digs (33-27) and total blocks (9-2).

The teams forced eight ties in the opening set as Vargas and Walz notched four kills each while Sindoni notched five and Bisnett has four for Regis. The teams were tied as late as 19-all before two kills from Vargas helped build a 21-20 edge and after Regis closed the gap to 23-22, Mason went to work at the center of the net dropping two straight kills for the 25-22 final.

Set two was even closer with 10 ties. Vargas sizzled with six kills (one error) on seven tries helping negate four kills and three aces from Bisnett. Tied again late at 22, Vargas again got the big kill for a 23-22 lead and DWC pulled to within set point on a Regis error.

After Bisnett's fourth ace of the set for a one-point game, Hendrix followed down the line for the 25-23 win.

Set three saw seven more ties, but the stalemate was broken early on (11-11) as DWC used a key 5-1 run at 14-13 keyed by three Pride errors and kills from Howdeshell, Vargas and Hendrix's fifth kill of the set to open up a 19-14 lead.

A Bisnett kill – his fifth of the set - pulled Regis to within six (23-17) but a Mason kill and another Pride error closed out the match.

Regis returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Lasell College for a tri-match with the Lasers and Anna Maria College starting at 1:00 p.m.
