PRIDE SET TO TAKE ON ENGINEERS

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men’s volleyball team is set to start the season Thursday (Jan. 20) at 7:00 p.m.  This will be the first home game for the Pride as they will host the Engineers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  The Engineers enter the contest will a record of 4-0 and are currently ranked 8th in the nation.

The Pride returns for the 2011 season being led by upperclassmen James Guaragna (Quincy, Mass./Brighton ) and junior Andrew  Carroll (Natick, Mass./Natick). Sophomore Vanducan Phillips (Raynham, Mass./Raynham) will look to contribute to the squad as well.

 In 2011, the Pride adds four freshmen to the team. Dan Berdichevsky  (Wayland, Mass./ Wayland), Drew Wilder (Brockton, Mass./Brockton), Sean O’Brien (Westerly, R.I. / Westerly), and Stefan Todorovic  (Los Angeles, Calif. Notre Dame) will look to gain experience in their first season as a collegiate volleyball player.

The Engineers are led by Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University) who leads the team in kills with 24 on the season.  Jeremy Velazquez (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford)will help the engineers out on defense. Velazquez currently leads the team with 25 digs on the season.

The game will be played at the Regis College Athletic Center and is set for a 7:00 p.m. start
