GUARANGA LEADS PRIDE WITH EIGHT DIGS VERSUS LESLEY

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Lesley University earned a senior night win over Regis College on Tuesday, besting the Pride 3-0 (25-10, 25-8, 25-15) as Lynx opposite hitter Tyler Reeves (Coventry, CT/Coventry) set the program's all-time digs record in his final home match.

Reeves led all players with 16 digs, moving him into first place with 378 for his career. Christian Domingo (Los Angeles, CA/College of Canyons) ignited a scorching Lynx attack with a match-high 15 kills on 22 attempts for a .591 hitting percentage, and senior Stephen Siragusa (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream) ran the Lesley offense with a match-best 30 set assists.

As a team, Lesley hit a season-high .364, with Max Hoevenaar (Orlando, FL/Castle Christian) crushing eight kills with one error over 11 attempts for a .636 hitting percentage. Freshman Melvin Morales (Chelsea, MA/Chelsea) enjoyed his finest match to date, with five kills on 12 attempts (.417), and Lesley hit 38 kills on 77 attempts, erring only 10 times.

The Lynx pounced out to a 4-0 lead in the opening set behind a Siragusa service ace and a pair of Domingo kills. Leading 15-5, Lesley went on a 7-0 run highlighted by a pair of Hoevenaar aces to run away with a 25-10 Game 1 win.

The second set started even better, with a Siragusa ace and three Domingo kills opening up a 7-0 lead. With a 14-5 lead, Lesley scored 11 of the game's final 14 points, which included two kills each for Domingo and Morales, as Lesley took the middle set, 25-8.

Regis overcame sluggish starts in the first two sets, with a Christopher Tran (Quincy, MA) kill putting the Pride up, 4-2. A Brian Diah (Abuja, Nigeria/American International School) service ace put the Lynx on top for the first time at 5-4, and a 7-1 run capped by three straight Domingo kills distanced the Lynx for good in a 25-15 victory. James Guaranga led the Pride with eight digs.

Reeves' 16 digs puts him one ahead of former teammate Scott Wheeler for first place all-time.

Lesley and Regis wrap up their seasons on the back end of the home-and-home series Thursday night in Weston.
