CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Ken Siebert tallied 12 kills, five aces, four digs, and two blocks in MIT’s 25-9, 25-8, 25-10 victory over Regis College in a North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division match on Wednesday. With the win, the nationally-ranked No. 13 Engineers improved to 27-6 on the year and 14-1 in conference play while the Pride’s ledger dipped to 0-15 overall and 0-12 in the New England Division.

In the opening set, Regis stayed close as a blocking error trimmed its deficit to three (7-4). MIT strung together six straight points, but miscues by the Engineers helped the Pride narrow its margin to 14-7. Back-to-back kills from Siebert sparked an 11-2 run that closed out the game.

The Cardinal and Gray quickly built a 7-2 lead in the second set, however a block and ace by Si Pan Leong in addition to an MIT error brought Regis within two (7-5) and forced a timeout by the hosts. The Engineers responded by scoring 18 of the next 21 points to capture the win.

MIT raced out to an 8-1 advantage in the final frame, but the Pride capitalized on a trio of errors and closed the gap to five (9-4). The Engineers went on to record multiple three-point spurts to gain some breathing room and eventually wrap up the match.

Garrett Winther posted nine kills and two blocks as Evan Wang compiled 14 assists, five kills, and two blocks. David Thomas added five kills while Benson George chipped in three aces and two blocks. Jeremy Velazquez led the defense with six digs as Caine Jette notched four aces and four digs. Tim Lee rounded out the Engineers with 14 assists, six digs, and two aces.

MIT returns to action on Friday, March 25 when it hosts Wentworth Institute of Technology in its final match of the regular season. Regis continues conference play on Thursday, March 17 in a home match against Endicott College
