PRIDE ATTEMPT TO FEND OFF EMERSON ATTACK

WESTON, Mass.—Regis College rallied back late in set one, but its persistence was a bit too late as Emerson defeated Regis College 3-0 in men’s volleyball Wednesday. Emerson’s Eric Doherty (Millis, Mass./Millis) had a game-high 11 kills for the Lions.

Nadav Swarttz (Newton, Mass./Newton South) chimed in with 10 kills of his own. Emerson (5-12) began set one 10-0 before Regis College (0-11) got on the boards with points. Christopher Tran (Quincy, Mass.) tried to get Regis College in the game, but his four kills for the game were not enough. The Pride did serve three aces, but its defense allowed for Emerson’s offense to rally points.

James Guaragna (Quincy, Mass.) had 10 digs for Regis College, followed by Dan Berdichevsky (Wayland, Mass.) with six. Emerson showed some signs of weakness as Regis College battled back from deficits in sets one and two, but the Lions staved any such attempts to win both sets.

Regis College came out of the intermission looking for redemption, and to force a fourth set, but Emerson would again battle to capture the third set win, and to win the match.
