WINTHROP, Mass. – Regis College Men's Track and Field dominated the Great Northeast Conference (GNAC) weekly awards following their impressive performances at the J. Elmer Swanson Invitational this past Saturday. Riley Stogsdill (San Diego, Calif.) was named Track Athlete of the Week, Caleb Russo (Brookfield, N.H.) secured Field Athlete of the Week, and Brian LaPorte (Bridgewater, Mass.) earned his first Rookie of the Week honor.
Junior Riley Stogsdill earned three top-five finishes at the J. Elmer Swanson Invitational this past weekend as he placed fourth overall, first in his heat, in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:04.52 and was also a member of the top-finishing 4x400m relay team (3:32.53) and the second-place 4x100m relay team (44.77).
Sophomore Caleb Russo punched a ticket to the Division III New England Championships in Javelin as the Brookfield, N.H. native landed a throw of 51.34m, placing him fifth overall in the meet.
First-Year Brian LaPorte was part of the top-finishing 4x400 meter relay team, which posted a time of 3:32.53. Individually, he finished just outside the top ten, placing 11th in the 800m with a time of 2:12.47.
The trio, along with the rest of the Pride, returns to action at the Tufts Snowflake Invitational on Saturday, March 29, at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.
