Men’s Track and Field Conclude Regular Season at ECSU Invite

MANSFIELD, Conn. – Members of the Pride closed out the regular season Friday afternoon as the Regis College men's track and field team competed in the Eastern Connecticut State University Invitational.

Cole Anderson (Falmouth, Maine) set a school record in the discus with a distance of 40.30 meters (132' 3"), which also qualified him for the New England Championships. Daniel LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.) placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 42.44 meters (139' 3"), edging out Anderson in third place with a throw of 38.80 meters (127' 3").

LaFlamme finished in second in the shot put with a throw of 13.08 meters (42' 11"), followed by teammate Mark Dumas (Woodstock, Conn.), who placed fifth with a throw of 12.26 meters (40' 2.75") on the day.

Matthew Malone (West Roxbury, Mass.) placed third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.30 seconds as well as fifth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:04.60. Also on the track, Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) finished fourth in the 1500 meter run in 4:27.92, and Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.) ended up fifth in the 400 meter dash in 54.13 seconds.

Regis finished the meet in fourth place, compiling 53 points on the day. Eastern Connecticut State finished the meet in first with a total of 182 points, while Bridgewater State finished in second with 176.50 points.

The Pride compete next weekend beginning Saturday, Apr. 27, and continuing Sunday, Apr. 28, at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships, held once again at Regis Stadium.
