Men’s Track & Field Continues Indoor Season at Smith Invite

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's track and field team continued the 2018-19 indoor season Saturday by participating in the Smith Pioneer Invitational, hosted by Smith College.

Some of Regis's top performances came in the throwing events, led by senior Daniel LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.), who once again broke his own school record in the weight throw with a top toss of 14.67 meters (48' 1.75"), finishing sixth in the event. Cole Anderson (Falmouth, Maine) posted a season-best throw of 13.57 meters (44' 6.25") to finish in 11th place, followed by Frank Pelleteri (Freeport, Maine) in 22nd place at 11.90 meters (39' 0.5") and Angel Pagan-Rodriguez (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) in 30th place at 8.77 meters (28' 9.25").

In the shot put, Pelleteri was the Pride's top finisher as his best toss of 11.91 meters (39' 1") put him in ninth, just ahead of LaFlamme in 10th place at 11.83 meters (38' 9.75"). In the long jump, Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.) finished in 13th place with a top effort of 5.86 meters (19' 2.75").

On the track, Pastore finished in 10th place overall in the 60 meter dash, winning his heat with a season-best time of 7.38 seconds. Nazih Lewis (Trenton, N.J.) improved upon his season-best time in the 60 meter dash at 7.87 seconds, plus he posted a personal season-best time of 25.41 seconds in the 200 meter dash and completed the 400 meter dash in 1:02.82.

In the 600 meter run, Christian Hendricks (Edgewater, Md.) finished in 12th place, leading the Pride with a time of 1:29.71, followed by JJ Pedersen (Milford, Conn.) in 14th place in 1:32.65 and Sean Toomey (Salem, N.H.) in 16th place in 1:35.48. Henry Walker (Brookline, Mass.) finished 11th in the 800 meter run in 2:08.28, while Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) led Regis with an eighth place finish in the 3000 meter run at 9:35.17, ahead of Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) in 13th place in 10:04.10 and Gustavo Novelle-Ruddy (Boston, Mass.) in 16th place in 11:02.82.

Regis heads to Medford, Mass., for the Branwen Smith-King Invitational, hosted by Tufts University next Saturday, Jan. 26.
