Andrew Bienvenu Named GNAC Player of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – After rallying from a first set loss to defeat one of Eastern Nazarene's top players to remain undefeated in singles, graduate student Andrew Bienvenu (Baton Rouge, La.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week, announced Monday, April 4, by the league office.

Bienvenu first teamed with Lenny Tam (Waltham, Mass.) at number two doubles for an 8-3 victory to give the Pride their first point of Saturday's match against Eastern Nazarene. At number one singles against the Lions' Diego Rodriguez, Bienvenu rallied from losing the first set tiebreaker, winning the second set and the super-tiebreaker (6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 1-0 (10-5)) to earn his 11th straight singles victory of the season.

In addition to the singles victories, Bienvenu has also won 10 consecutive doubles sets, teaming with Tam for seven of those wins. He has won three singles matches on a third set super-tiebreaker, coming back from losing the first set in all three.

Regis College (4-7, 0-2 GNAC) heads to Milton, Mass., to face Curry College Tuesday, April 5, starting at 3 p.m. The Pride will then host Norwich University Saturday, April 9, beginning at 2 p.m., with a Senior Day presentation also taking place.
