Pride Men’s Tennis Extends Winning Streak to Three

ORLANDO, Fla. – Regis College was able to answer an early wakeup call, defeating Concordia-Moorhead College, 6-3, Thursday morning in a non-conference men's collegiate tennis match at the USTA National Campus.

After the Cobbers grabbed the first point of the match with an 8-2 victory at number three doubles, the Pride responded, first when Andrew Bienvenu (Baton Rouge, La.) and Lenny Tam (Waltham, Mass.) combined for an 8-3 victory at number two doubles. In the number one doubles position, Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) were able to pull out an 8-6 victory to give Regis a 2-1 advantage.

Concordia-Moorhead briefly regained the lead at 3-2 by earning straight-set victories in the fifth and sixth singles positions, but once again Regis battled back. Bienvenu tied the match at 3-3 with a straight-set victory (6-1, 6-1) at number one singles, followed by a straight-set win (6-2, 6-0) for Torres at the number two position.

Tam would clinch the match for the Pride as he won in straight sets (6-1, 6-4) at number four singles. At number three singles, Weiner completed Regis' third consecutive victory with a straight-set win (6-4, 7-5).

Regis College (3-3) concludes the Florida portion of the 2022 schedule with a match against Calvin University Saturday, March 5, starting at 9 a.m. at the USTA National Campus.
