Pride Take Control Against UMass Dartmouth

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College defeated UMass Dartmouth 8-1 in a men's non-conference collegiate tennis match Tuesday afternoon at the Regis Tennis Center.

In third doubles, the pairing of Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) and Matt DaRosso (Yonkers, N.Y.) defeated their opponents 8-5.  Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) and Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) followed with a victory in first doubles, 8-5. Owen Pelissier (Hingham, Mass.) and Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico) completed the sweep of doubles, winning their match 8-4.

Torres continued the winning ways for the Pride, starting off singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 victory, followed by Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) clinching the match for the Pride with a 6-3, 6-0 win in sixth singles.

The final four matches of the day all went the distance with first, third, fourth, and fifth singles all going to a super-tiebreaker. Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas), playing in the fifth singles spot, defeated Kyle Noseworthy (6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-2)).  Pallotta dropped the first set of his match, but rallied for a 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-3) victory.

The Corsairs' Anthony Joseph picked up the lone point for UMass Dartmouth with a victory in fourth singles (4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7)). Bebarta played in the final match to finish, winning the eighth point for the Pride, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-7).

UMass Dartmouth (6-8, 3-2 LEC) will be in action on Thursday, Apr. 18 taking on Suffolk in a 3:30 p.m. match.

Regis (8-10, 1-2 GNAC) will take on the Rams first in a 4:30 p.m. match on Wednesday, Apr. 17, before rounding out their regular season with their third match in as many days on Thursday, Apr. 18 against Norwich.
