KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Regis College men's tennis team fell behind early and could not rally back, losing to Concordia College of Minnesota, 7-2, Thursday in a non-conference dual match at the Star Island Resort.

Concordia (3-7) won all three doubles sets to gain the early advantage. The closest contest came at number three doubles, as Matt DaRosso (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Owen Pelissier (Hingham, Mass.) stayed with the Cobber duo of Jared Saue and Christian Larson before falling, 8-6.

The Cobbers took that momentum into the singles contests, winning all matches in the first four positions in straight sets to clinch the overall team competition.

The Pride earned their first point at number five singles when Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) split the first two sets with his opponent before winning the super-tiebreaker, 10-7. At number six singles, Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) won in straight sets, prevailing in the second set tiebreaker to complete the sweep.

Regis (6-4) is scheduled to conclude the Spring Break trip with a match against Piedmont Friday, March 8, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. After returning to campus, the Pride will play five straight matches on the road before opening its home slate against Suffolk Tuesday, April 9.
