Men’s Tennis Extends Winning Streak with Sweep of Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Regis College men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Salve Regina Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference collegiate match at the Salve Tennis Center.

The Pride combined to lose just two games in the three doubles sets, as Matt DaRosso (Yonkers, N.Y.)  and Owen Pelissier (Hingham, Mass.) finished first at third doubles with an 8-1 victory. Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico) also won 8-1 at first doubles, and the doubles sweep was completed at second doubles by Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) and Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) with an 8-0 victory.

Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) struck first in singles competition for Regis, winning at the number five position in straight sets (6-1, 6-0). Pallotta clinched the team match for the Pride with a straight-set victory at number three singles, losing only one game in the process (6-0, 6-1).

Torres did not lose a game as he won his match at number one singles (6-0, 6-0), while Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) at number four singles (6-1, 6-1) and Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) at number six singles (6-2, 6-0) each dropped just two games in their respective matches. Bebarta finished off the contest for the Pride with a straight-set win at number two singles (6-1, 6-2).

Regis (3-1) will conclude the fall schedule with three home matches in eight days, starting Friday, Oct. 5, against Wentworth at 5 p.m.
