Men's Tennis Falls In Non-Conference Action To Saint Anselm

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team took a break from conference play, hosting Division II Saint Anselm College but coming up short in a 7-2 loss to the Hawks Tuesday at the Regis Tennis Center.

The match was a scheduled restart after the team's original September contest was halted due to inclement weather. Doubles play had been completed with Regis trailing 2-1. After Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) had been blanked on the No. 2 court, the Pride (11-5) first doubles tandem of Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) evened the match with an 8-2 win over Kyle Harris (North Reading, Mass.) and Eric Howes (Shawnee, Kan.). Third doubles went to the Hawks (4-15) who led heading into today's singles matches.

The first three singles matches to finish went to Saint Anselm to give the Hawks the win. Regis did not go down easily with two of those three matches nearly going to the Pride. Charbonneau was swept on the No. 3 court but Harrow fell victim to a 4-6, 7-5, 10-5 to Brian Kavanagh (Wilbraham, Mass.). The match clincher came at the two with Horton taking Adam Weinstein (Vernon Rockwell, Conn.) the distance but falling 7-6 (6), 4-6, 10-5.

Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) won the lone singles match of the afternoon, rallying to beat Harris on the No. 4 court 1-6, 6-3, 10-6.

Next up for the Pride is a senior day match on Saturday, Apr. 21 against Johnson & Wales (RI) at 12:00 p.m. Today's match was the season finale for the Hawks.
