Impressive ITA Academic Honors For Regis Tennis

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Regis (Mass.) men's and women's tennis teams were honored by the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) with all-academic individual and team awards. The announcement came from the ITA national office.

The 2016-17 recognition was impressive for sure as the men (3.43) and women (3.42) shattered the minimum GPA of 3.2 required for the team award. The five honorees on both the men's and women's side were the most ITA individual academic awards in the history of both programs.

Individually for the women, Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.), Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.), Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.), Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Kailey Myers (Norwalk, Calif.). For Lord, a three-time conference player of the year selection, it was her third such academic honor with Kanarkiewicz garnering her second ITA academic award.

On the men's side, Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) was selected for the third time with Jarid Polley earning his second ITA academic award. They were joined by Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.), Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) and two-time conference player of the year Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.)

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2016 and spring 2017).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, players must have meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
