WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team opened up their New England Collegiate Conference slate of games with a 9-0 sweep of Mitchell College Tuesday evening. The victory improved the Crimson and Gold to 7-5 on the year and gave the defending conference champions their first league win. The Mariners dropped to 0-1, 0-1 NECC with the setback.

Mitchell earned only one point in doubles play as it came at no. 1 doubles with the duo of Adam Diaz (Bellerose Village, N.Y.)/Orson Sinclair (New London, Conn.) taking a point against Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine). The pairs of Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.)/Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.) and Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.)/Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) each swept their opponents at no. 2 and 3 doubles with 8-0 scores.

Regis' match clinching point came at no. 6 singles when Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) defeated Michael Hartley (Paris, France) 6-1, 6-0.

The Pride return to the court next Tuesday, March 29th when they travel to non-conference opponent Springfield for a 4:30 p.m. duel. Mitchell remains in conference when they host Becker next Tuesday for their home opener at 3:00 p.m.
