PRIDE NAB TWO WINS ON COLUMBUS DAY

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's team wrapped up the fall portion of their 2015 campaign with a pair of 5-4 victories over Johnson & Wales University and Eastern Nazarene College. The Pride enter the break at 5-1 overall and return to action in March.

In the opening match of the day, the Pride were forced to rally from a 3-0 deficit following doubles play against the Wildcats. Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, while Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) added a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.) was victorious at No. 3 singles by the matching score of 6-4, 6-2.

Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) grabbed the fourth point of the day for the Pride with a 5-7, 7-5, 10-3 win at No. 2 singles. Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) took the opening set of his No. 5 singles match, 6-4, but dropped the second set, 4-6 to Mariusz Wala. The freshman rebounded for a 10-3 win in the third and final set to clinch the 5-4 win for the Pride.

The Pride jumped out to an early 2-1 lead on Eastern Nazarene following doubles play as Harrow and Horton teamed for a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) and Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) added a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) earned his first point of the day with a 6-0, 6-2 win against ENC's Shaw Campbell. Jeremy Morgenbesser grabbed another win at No. 6 singles, this time by a score of 6-2, 6-1.

Cam Charbonneau played the hero again for the Pride as he forced a third set tiebreak at No. 5 singles against Andres Biondi. Charbonneau dropped the opening set 2-6, before rebounding for a 6-1 win in the second set before winning the deciding point again for Regis with a 10-8 win in the third set.

In the other matches of the day, Eastern Nazarene defeated Franklin Pierce University, 5-4, in the other morning match, while Johnson & Wales rebounded from their setback to Regis with a 5-4 win over the Ravens in the afternoon.
