PRIDE SWEEP NIGHTHAWKS IN NECC ACTION

SALEM, Mass. – Regis College swept the season series from Newbury College with a 9-0 victory in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action on Saturday afternoon. Senior Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) led the Pride to victory with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in first singles following an 8-2 doubles victory.

Regis came out of the gate red-hot as sophomores Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) and Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) claimed third doubles by an 8-0 score, while Beluch and first year Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) knocked off sophomore Christian Repunte (Burlington, Mass.) and senior Joey Verdon (Catskill, N.Y.) in first doubles, 8-2.

Sophomore Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) and Matt Quattrociocci (Germantown, Md.) rounded out doubles with the 8-5 win in second doubles.

In the singles portion of the competition, Quattrociocci, sophomore Jarid Polley (Reading, Mass.) and Hildreth took fourth, fifth and sixth singles with identical, 6-0, 6-0 set scores. Repunte valiantly battled Harrow in second singles, taking him to 10 games in the second set before falling 6-2, 6-4.

Newbury falls to 1-4 and 0-3 in conference play while Regis improves to 11-6 and 4-0 in the NECC. The Pride return to the courts on Tuesday April 14 when they host Becker College at 4:30 p.m.
