MONARCHS SLIP BY PRIDE, 5-4

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Regis College men's tennis team was edged by King's College (Pa.), 5-4, on Thursday morning in Orlando, Fla. The Pride currently stand at 6-6 overall and return to NECC play on March 18 at Wheelock College.

In doubles play, Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) and Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) grabbed the lone point with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

Singles play was a grind with the Monarchs just pulling out the narrow victory over a short-handed Pride squad. Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) cruised to a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, while Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) added a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles.

Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) had the match of the week for the Pride, dropping the opening set, 6-2, before rebounding for a 6-2 win in the second set. In the tie-break, Beluch trailed 5-9, and rallied for a 13-11 win.

Austin Nace dropped the opening set of his No. 6 singles match, 6-3, and trailed 3-1 in the second set, before rallying to force a tie-break, but eventually fell 7-5 (7-4).
