REGIS DOWNS DIVISION II FRANKLIN PIERCE

RINDGE, N.H. - The Regis College men's tennis team posted its first-ever win over Division II Franklin Pierce University with a 7-2 victory over the Ravens on Friday afternoon. The Pride improve to 2-0 on the year, while FPU drops to 0-1.

In doubles play, Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) grabbed an 8-5 win over Mark Petrie (Pembroke, Mass.) and Drew Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) at No. 2 doubles, while Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) and Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) added an 8-1 win over Logan Sherwood (Merrimac, Mass.) and Aras Banevicius (Canton, Conn.) at No. 3 doubles.

The Pride's Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.) nearly made it a clean sweep in doubles, but the duo fell to Christopher Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) and Olivier Viel (Quebec City, Quebec) at the top doubles spot, 9-8.

Beluch rebounded in singles play to post a 6-3, 6-0 win over Brewer in No. 1 singles. Quattrociocchi also added a win at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-0, over Viel. Chris Harrow clinched the win for the Pride, battling back from a 4-6 setback in the first game, to win 6-0, 10-2, and defeat Mark Petrie at No. 2 singles.

Scott Barrett (Burlington, Mass.) and Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) added wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles in pro sets. Drew Bennett posted the lone singles win for the Ravens at No. 3 singles.

The Pride return to action on Thursday night at 5:00 p.m. when they host former CCC foe, Gordon College.
