BELUCH EARNS THIRD-STRAIGHT PLAYER OF THE YEAR HONOR

WESTON, Mass. – For the third consecutive season, junior Regis College men's tennis player Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference's Player of the Year, it was announced on Monday morning by the league offices. Beluch helped lead the Pride (15-5) to their second-straight NECC Championship this past weekend.

Freshman Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) was honored as the NECC Rookie of the Year and joined Beluch on the First Team All-Conference Singles squad. Rookie Jarid Polley (Reading, Mass.) was also a First Team Singles selection, while he and Beluch earned a First Team All-Conference Doubles nod. Beluch, the 2012 NECC Rookie of the Year, went a perfect 7-0 at the No. 1 singles position in conference play this season and teamed with Polley to post a perfect 9-0 mark at No. 1 doubles. Beluch was also recognized as the NECC Tournament MVP after the Pride's march to their second-straight NECC Championship this past weekend. Dating back to his freshman year, Beluch is 26-1 in NECC singles play and has gone 27-2 at No. 1 doubles during his three years.

Jeremy Morgenbesser went 8-1 in singles play and 7-1 in doubles play in his first season in NECC action en route to the Conference's Rookie of the Year award. Morgenbesser was a perfect 3-0 at the top singles spot filling in for Michael Beluch, and went 5-1 at No. 2 singles. Morgenbesser and Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) posted a 4-1 mark at No. 2 doubles in conference play, while he and Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) were 2-0 in matches they played together.

Fellow first year Jarid Polley also earned First Team Singles honors after going a perfect 10-0 in conference singles play this season, including 4-0 at No. 2 singles, 3-0 at No. 3 singles, and 3-0 at No. 4 singles.
