BELUCH & MORGENBESSER COLLECT NECC WEEKLY HONORS

WESTON, Mass. – Just one day after helping lead their team to a second straight New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship, Regis College men's tennis players Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) have been named the NECC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Beluch, the All-Tournament MVP, posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and an 8-1 win with Jarid Polley (Reading, Mass.) at No. 1 doubles in the Pride's final regular season match against Becker, which was an 8-1 win. In the NECC Tournament, Beluch once again helped his team get past the Hawks with another 6-0, 6-1 win at top singles and an 8-0 win at top doubles. Beluch came out victorious at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-3) and No. 1 doubles (8-6) to help Regis capture a 9-0 decision over Newbury in the Championship match.

Morgenbesser teamed with Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles before taking a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles in the Crimson & Gold's 9-0 sweep of Becker in the NECC Semifinals on Thursday. In Sunday's NECC Championship match, he and Cohen won 8-2 at second doubles before he beat his opponent, 6-3, 0-6, 11-9, at second singles.

Beluch and Morgenbesser were each named to the All-Tournament Singles and Doubles teams for their stellar play and helped the Pride conclude the season with a program-best record of 15-5.
