REGIS DROPS SPRING OPENER TO JOHN CARROLL

TAMPA, Fla. – The Regis College men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to John Carroll University on Monday afternoon in Tampa, Fla. The Pride drop to 0-5 on the year, while John Carroll picks up its first win to move to 1-5 in 2014.

The Blue Streaks made quick work of the Pride in doubles play, taking No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by matching scores of 8-1 and sweeping the Pride 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.

In singles play, Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision at the top singles spot, while Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles to Kyle Mollison. Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) dropped the opening set of his No. 3 singles match against Sean Graham, 6-3, but rebounded to win the second set, 6-4, before dropping the final game 10-6.

Jarid Polley (Reading, Mass.) suffered a 6-4, 6-4 setback to Nick Siciliano at No. 4 singles, and Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) lost 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to Alex Mihas. Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) rounded out singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 loss at No. 6 singles to Eric Grimaldi.

The Pride are back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they take on Susquehanna University at 2:00 p.m.
