LIONS CLAIM FALL OPENER OVER PRIDE, 6-3

QUINCY, Mass. - The Eastern Nazarene men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 non-conference victory over visiting Regis College on Friday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts. The Lions start the year at 1-0 while the Pride slip to 0-1 overall.

Eastern Nazarene held a 2-1 advantage at the conclusion of doubles play. 

Regis' Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) and Jarid Polley (Reading, Mass.) defeated Andres Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Davis Steelman (Darlington, Md.) at the No. 2 position, 8-5 for the Pride's lone point in doubles. 

The Lions tallied four singles victories to seal the match, conceding wins at the top two singles positions.

Junior Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) beat Sam McKay-Corkum (Rehoboth, Mass.) 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position for Regis.

Rookie Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) also picked up a point for the Pride in his collegiate debut. The freshman defeated Biondi 6-2, 6-2 at the second slot in singles play.

Up next, Eastern Nazarene will compete in the Stonehill Doubles Invitational Sept. 7, while Regis will next travel to Salve Regina on Sept. 13 for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference match.
