COACH CIARLEGLIO RECAPS MEN'S INVITATIONAL

WESTON, Mass. – Another great day weather-wise and another day filled with excellent tennis marked the 3rd-annual Regis College Men's Invitational. Thanks go out to the coaches and players from Castleton State, Colby-Sawyer, Lesley and Salem State for participating in the tournament and we look forward to having you and your teams here again next fall!

We also need to recognize the many staff members of Regis Athletics, without whom Saturday's event would not have been so successful, including Chief Athletic Trainer, Devin Cashman, and his team, our game management group, Laura Violette, Laura Malloy and Matt Sagistano and Doug Macdougall, Director of the Weston Town Park & Recreation Dept, for allowing us to use the Weston High School courts.

DOUBLES
Looking at the doubles and singles results, it is clear that the level of competition this year was extremely high. In the A flight for doubles, the top three teams were separated by just 3 total games over the three matches. Both the Colby-Sawyer pair of Justin Pinard and Sergio Spassof and Regis' Mike Beluch and Hunter Cawley won two out of their three matches. Regis won the flight by counting total games won, 17 to 15.

For the B flight, Salem State's Joe Kim and Kenny Hodgkins won all four of their matches to take the flight, while Clay Allen and Reeve Fidler from Colby-Sawyer took 2nd with three wins out of four matches.

The C flight saw the fiercest battles of the doubles competition with half of the matches going to tie-breaks. In the end Colby-Sawyer's Paul Holland and Connor Veazey won three matches and 20 total games. Finishing second with 18 games each was the Salem State tandem of Krystian Biedul and David Dluznieski and Regis's third doubles team of Mouhamed Diallo and Austin Nace.

SINGLES
For the A1 flight, Regis' Mike Beluch won the flight outright with three victories out of three matches played. The A2 flight was notable for each of the players winning one of their two matches and Clay Allen from Colby-Sawyer taking the flight with 10 games to 9 games from Adam McCaffery of Castleton State.

Salem State's Joe Kim took the B1 flight with four match wins versus three wins for Sergio Spassof from Colby-Sawyer. Hunter Cawley captured the B2 flight, winning all three of his matches.

With three match wins, Paul Holland dominated the C1 singles as did Connor Veazey for the C2 flight, both playing for Colby-Sawyer. In the D flight, Regis' Mouhamed Diallo was the victor, winning all three of his matches. Austin Nace, also on the Regis team, came in second winning two of his matches.

Again thanks to the coaches and teams for helping to make Saturday's tournament successful. I hope you and your players had fun! Good luck in your spring season and see you all next October.
