EAGLES FLY PAST PRIDE, 9-0

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Regis men's tennis team dropped a road match against Post University on Sunday afternoon at Chase Collegiate School by a score of 9-0. The win marks the first for the Eagles, who move to 1-0 on the year, while the Pride fall to 0-2.

Five different Eagles recorded wins in both single and doubles play, including Nicholas Tadros (Montreal, Quebec), who won in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles play.

Tadros and Jonathyn Young (Norwalk, Conn.) bested the Pride's Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Hunter Cawley (Wimberley, Texas) in No. 1 doubles, 8-2. The Eagles went on to win each of the next two doubles matches by 8-3 scores. The sophomore pair of Peter Fanous (Cairo, Egypt) and Christ-Brian Amedjonekou (Queens, N.Y.) defeated Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) and Sophorn Nop (Lowell, Mass.) in No. 2 doubles, while Mouhamed Diallo (Boston, Mass.) and Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) fell to Ethan Siemiesz (New Boston, N.H.) and Mateus Garcia (Sao Lourenco, Brazil) in No. 3 doubles.

Tadros defeated Beluch in No. 1 singles play by set scores of 6-4, 6-1. Fanous continued his winning ways in No. 2 singles play, besting Cawley, 6-1 and 6-2. In No. 3 singles, White fell to Amedjonekou in consecutive 6-2 set scores.

Nop was defeated by Young (6-2, 6-0) in No. 4 singles play, while Garcia bested senior Matt Smolko (Pelham, N.H.) in No. 5 singles by set scores of 6-2, 6-1. Diallo rounded out singles play for the day, falling to Danny Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) in No. 6 singles (6-4, 6-0).

Regis will return to action October 3, as the Pride will welcome Rhode Island College for a 5:00 p.m. nonconference match.
