PRIDE UPEND LESLEY IN NECC OPENER

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Regis College opened New England Collegiate Conference play with a 6-3 victory over Lesley University on Thursday night at the Nicholas Athletic Center. The Pride took a 2-1 advantage on the night in doubles play and captured four of six singles points to improve to 3-5 on the season, winning its NECC opener.

The team of Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Sophorn Nop (Lowell, Mass.) defeated Nick Mattox and Christian Domingo in first doubles 8-3, and Beluch earned a 6-1, 6-1 top singles win over Mattox.

Jeffrie Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) upended Paolo DiPietrantonio 6-0, 6-0 in second singles and teamed with Andy White to earn an 8-3 second doubles win over DiPietrantonio and Alex Zhitnik.

For the Lynx (0-1, 0-1 NECC), Thomas Rogalski (Middletown, Conn.) and Thomas Tedesco (Bristol, Conn.) earned an 8-5 third doubles point over Matthew Smolko and Mouhamed Diallo. Rogalski then trumped Diallo 6-4, 6-4 in sixth singles, and Domingo rebounded to top Nop in fourth singles.

Lesley returns to the court on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., playing host to Mitchell College, and Regis takes on Newbury College on Saturday, also in NECC play.
