PRIDE SAILS PAST ANCHORMEN WITH 6-3 WIN

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Regis College men's team doubled its win total from a season ago and improved to 2-1 this year with a 6-3 victory over Rhode Island College on Tuesday afternoon in Providence, R.I. With the setback, the Anchormen drop to 0-1 this season. Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) picked up a win at number one singles and teamed with Daniel Berdichevsky (Wayland, Mass.) to post another point at number one doubles in the win.

The two squads split in doubles action as Beluch and Berdichevsky swept its number one doubles match, 8-0, over Anthony DeFrancesco and Jack Adamo. RIC's Jason Morin and Sean Raudonaitis secured its first point of the day with an 8-3 win over Matthew Smolko (Pelham, N.H.) and Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) in number two doubles. The Anchormen forfeited its number three doubles match, giving Regis a 2-1 lead headed into singles play.

The Pride took three of five in singles action to seal the victory as Beluch scored a straight set (6-1, 6-1) win at the top spot, sophomore Andy White won at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-4) and junior Matt Smolko won at No. 5 singles (6-3, 3-6, 10-8).

Regis returns to action on Friday afternoon when the Pride host Assumption College at 3:00 p.m. RIC will also play on Friday when they travel to Eastern Nazarene at 3:30 p.m.
