PRIDE SET TO PLAY IN HILTON HEAD TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men’s tennis team will be competing this spring break in Hilton Head South Carolina.  The Pride is set to play five matches in five days to open up the 2011 spring season.

The Hilton Head Tournament will be the Pride’s first competition of the season before conference play starts. The Pride returns with a young squad that will look to gain experience throughout the season.  Sophomores Matt Smolko (Pelham, NH/Lowell Catholic) and Mouhamed Diallo (Boston, Mass./Cours Sainte Marie de Hann) are the Pride’s main returners. Freshman Andy White (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman) has shown great leadership and will look to lead the Pride during its  competition in South Carolina.

The Pride will take on Defiance College in the first match of the season Sunday (Mar. 6). After its season debut the Pride will get ready to play Lebanon Valley and Ashford College at the beginning of the week.  The Pride will play mid-week against Grand Rapids College and then take a day to Prepare for its tournament finale. The Pride will finish up its trip with a solid match against Wilkes College Friday (Mar. 11).

The Pride will have its first home match of the season Saturday (Mar. 19) against Endicott College to start conference play in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.
