
Men's Swimming and Diving Breaks Pool Records in Regis Invitational
WESTON, Mass. - Multiple school records fell and several season-best times were established as Regis College hosted Keene State and Gordon College in the Regis Invitational Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7, at the Regis Pool.
Friday night, Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished second in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 29.66. Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa.) completed the 100 yard butterfly in 54.12 to claim second place just under Aaron Turgeon of Keene State. Werner clinched first in the 50 yard butterfly at 24.82.
On Saturday, Kim earned the first first-place finish for the men with a final time of 2:24.40 for the 200-yard breaststroke.
Werner earned another first place finish in the 200-yard butterfly finishing at 2:02.84 but didn't stop there. In addition to his multiple first-place finishes, Werner broke the 400-yard Individual Medley pool record while earning a new personal best, finishing with a time of 4:24.53. The previous record was set in 2021 with a time of 4:26.23.
Liam Austin (Boston, Mass.) broke the one-meter diving pool record for five dives, producing a score of 181.5, surpassing the previous record of 171.35.
Regis College returns to competition after the holiday break, facing Albertus Magnus in New Haven on Friday, Jan. 10, starting at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, starting at 11 a.m.
