Men’s Swim & Dive Begins 2024-25 Season with Victory

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's swimming and diving team picked up event victories when it needed them the most, prevailing over the University of Saint Joseph, 102-94, Friday night in a collegiate swimming and diving dual meet at the Regis Pool.

In the meet-opening 200 medley relay, the Pride erased a deficit in the final two legs as Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa) posted a 50 fly split of 25.00 seconds and Aryaman Nagaraj (Watertown, Mass.) followed with a 50 free split of 23.79 seconds to give Regis a victory by 0.44 seconds with a time of 1:50.97.

After finishing second in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.17, Werner won the 100 butterfly by almost 10 seconds with a time of 59.88 seconds, followed by a four-second victory in the 50 butterfly in 26.13 seconds. In his first career collegiate meet, Josh Dion finished second in each of those events with times of 1:09.80 in the 50 butterfly and 30.12 seconds in the 100 butterfly.

Similarly, Nagaraj came back from a second place finish in the 50 backstroke in 29.18 seconds to win the 50 freestyle by 6/100ths of a second in 24.31 seconds and the 100 freestyle by 44/100ths of a second with a time of 53.79 seconds.

The Pride clinched the meet thanks to performances in the diving event and the final individual swimming event. In one-meter diving, Liam Austin (Boston, Mass.) posted an 11-dive score of 278.15, followed by Michael Zammuto (Burlington, Mass.) at 270.55. Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) would complete the Regis comeback by winning the 100 individual medley in 1:02.19.

Regis College (1-0) heads right back into competition, making the short drive to Babson Park, Mass., to face Babson College Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at 11 a.m.
