Pool Records Highlight Pride Men’s Swim and Dive Performance

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's swimming and diving team set two Regis Pool records, one individual and one relay, to highlight its performance against Elms College Friday night on campus.

Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) broke a 13-year old pool record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.93, almost one full second faster than the previous mark of 2:16.92 established by Brandeis's Marc Eder Oct. 24, 2009. Earlier in the meet, Kim posted times of 29.33 seconds in the 50 breaststroke and 24.07 seconds in the 50 freestyle, personal-best marks in both events.

Kim then led off the men's 800 freestyle relay with a 200 free split of 1:59.55, teaming with Samuel Madriz (Union, N.J.), Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa), and Aryaman Nagaraj (Watertown, Mass.) to post an overall time of 7:47.30. They broke the previous pool record established by Noah Toumayan-Miller, Brendan Pike, Grant Kollien, and Joshua Unas Jan. 19, 2019, by over 20 seconds.

Werner posted personal-best times in the 200 butterfly at 2:02.49, the 100 freestyle in 51.31 seconds, and the 50 butterfly in 25.26 seconds. Nagaraj finished first in the 50 freestyle with a season-best time of 23.87 seconds. Madriz completed the individual 200 freestyle event in 2:02.24 and the 50 butterfly in 26.71 seconds, both personal season-best times.

Liam Austin (Boston, Mass.) earned his best six-dive score in one meter diving, completing the final six dives of the 11-dive set with a total score of 134.10, just behind Michael Curtis (Burlington, Mass.) at 145.50.

The Regis College swimming and diving team concludes the 2022 portion of its schedule at the Bridgewater State Invitational Saturday, Dec. 3, beginning at 12 p.m.
