Men’s Swim Team Seventh at NEISDA Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. – The Regis College men's swim team began its participation in the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships Friday with three scoring performances at the URI Tootell Aquatic Center.

Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) finished in eighth place in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:58.39, followed by teammate Robert Wood (Cathedral City, Calif.) in ninth place with a personal season-best mark of 5:12.73. In the 400 medley relay, Wood, Pike, Sam Madriz (Union, N.J.), and Bryce Toumayan-Miller (Natick, Mass.) compiled a time of 4:06.08 to finish in seventh place in the event.

Before the relay, Madriz posted a time of 1:00.46 in the 100 butterfly to end up in 21st place, and Toumayan-Miller finished 22nd in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 34.24 seconds.

After Friday's competition, Regis sits in seventh place in the team standings with 44 points, seven points ahead of conference rival Saint Joseph's College.

The 2022 NEISDA Championships will continue Saturday, Feb. 26, with swimming preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m., the finals of the 1000 freestyle around 12 noon, and swimming finals starting at 6 p.m.
