Regis Completes Another Top Ten Performance at NEISDA Meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Regis College men's swimming and diving team completed its ninth straight top-10 performance at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships, finishing in seventh place as the meet concluded Sunday at MIT's Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center.

The Pride's top individual performances Sunday came in the 1650 freestyle as two swimmers finished within the top eight, led by freshman Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) in sixth place with a season-best time of 17:27.13. Grant Kollien (Acton, Mass.) also cut time off his previous best mark this year, finishing the event in 17:30.17 to end up in seventh place.

The Regis 400 freestyle relay squad finished in seventh place in both the preliminaries and the finals, led by GianCarlos Banrey (Roslindale, Mass.), who led off the morning race with a 100 free split of 49.06 seconds and followed that with a leadoff split of 48.59 seconds in the evening. Connor Schwarze (Melrose, Mass.), Pike, and Kollien completed the evening relay in 3:25.09, over a second faster than the preliminary mark.

Joshua Unas (Santa Clarita, Calif.) completed his collegiate swimming career in the 100 individual medley, finishing second in the B-final and 10th overall with a season-best time of 58.42 seconds. Kevin Dugue (Roslindale, Mass.) also scored for the Pride Sunday, finishing sixth in the B-final for a 14th-place finish overall in the 50 backstroke after posting a season-best time of 27.07 seconds in the evening.

As a team, the Pride collected 267 points during the weekend, finishing comfortably in seventh place in the final standings. Roger Williams cruised to the team title with 932 points, far ahead of second place Brandeis with 578 points.

Regis College completes the 2018-19 season with a 5-3 dual meet record, a second place finish in the GNAC Championships, and this weekend's seventh place finish.
