Regis Men’s Swim Team Holds Off Elms in Close Meet

WESTON, Mass. – Thanks to 11 victories out of 14 total events, Regis College held off Elms College, 126-99, Saturday afternoon in a men's collegiate swimming dual meet at the Regis Aquatics Center.

The meet began with the quartet of Kevin Dugue (Roslindale, Mass.), Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.), Gueincy Clodomir (Pembroke Park, Fla.), and Joshua Unas (Santa Clarita, Calif.) cruising to a victory in the 200 medley relay in 1:51.95, almost 28 seconds in front of Elms' relay squad. Unas, participating in the final dual meet of his collegiate career, won the 50 breaststroke in 30.03 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.68.

Unas also anchored the 800 freestyle relay, joining with Noah Toumayan-Miller (Natick, Mass.), Pike, and Grant Kollien (Acton, Mass.) to post a winning time of 8:08.72, establishing a new pool record in the process. Kollien also earned two individual victories, winning the 1650 freestyle in 18:44.59 and the 200 individual medley in 2:21.34.

Pike won two individual events as well, touching the wall first in the 200 freestyle in a season-best time of 1:54.03 and in the 500 freestyle in 5:09.90. Dugue was also a double-winner during the meet, leading the field in the 50 backstroke in 28.93 seconds and in the 100 backstroke in 1:09.81.

Also celebrating Senior Day, Connor Schwarze (Melrose, Mass.) picked up an individual victory in the 50 freestyle with a winning time of 24.11 seconds, 1.79 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. Clodomir finished second in the 50 butterfly with a time of 28.95 seconds, just 86/100ths of a second behind the race winner.

Regis (5-3) now prepares for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships, to be hosted by Simmons University in Boston Friday, Feb. 1 through Sunday, Feb. 3.
