Regis Men’s Swim Team Cruises Past Colby-Sawyer

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College finished ahead of Colby-Sawyer College in all but one event as the Pride cruised to a 145-40 dual meet victory over the Chargers Saturday afternoon at the Regis Aquatics Center.

Six different Pride swimmers earned at least one individual event victory during the meet, led by senior Joshua Unas (Santa Clarita, Calif.) with three top times. Unas finished first in the 50 breaststroke in 30.34 seconds and in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.40, plus he posted the fastest time in the 100 individual medley at 59.92 seconds.

Three other Regis competitors earned two events wins apiece, starting with Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) with a season-best time of 1:55.87 in the 200 freestyle and a time of 5:12.40 in the 500 freestyle. Kevin Dugue (Roslindale, Mass.) touched the wall first in the 50 backstroke in 28.38 seconds and in the 100 backstroke in a season-best time of 1:00.51, while GianCarlos Banrey (Roslindale, Mass.) finished first in the 50 freestyle with a season-best time 22.57 seconds and in the 50 butterfly in 23.51 seconds.

Grant Kollien (Acton, Mass.) won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:13.70, and Connor Schwarze (Melrose, Mass.) earned the victory in the 100 freestyle in 52.86 seconds. Schwarze also anchored the 200 medley relay, joining with Dugue, Unas, and Banrey for a time of 1:46.79, plus he swam the final leg in the 200 freestyle relay to join Banrey, Kollien, and Gueincy Clodomir (Pembroke Park, Fla.) for a win in 1:39.42.

Colby-Sawyer's only event win came in the 100 butterfly, as Steve Moody finished first by three-and-a-half seconds with a time of 59.64 seconds.

Regis (4-3 in dual meets) closes the regular season next Saturday, Jan. 19, against Elms College at the Regis Aquatics Center starting at 12 p.m.
