REGIS SPLITS MEET AT GORDON

WENHAM, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed in a meet at the campus of Gordon College on Saturday afternoon. The Pride men earned a 141-109 victory over the host Fighting Scots while the Pride women were defeated 155-98.

For the men, the 200 yard freestyle relay squad of Nick Rainville (Reading, Mass.), Bryan Johnson (Sudbury, Mass.), Joshua Unas (Santa Clarita, Calif.) and Cassidy Bastianelli (Newton, Mass.) crossed the finish line first in 1:34.86. Junior swimmer Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) had a huge day in the pool as he won three individual events. He placed first in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 27.96, won the 50 yard freestyle in 22.76 and wrapped up his strong showing, finishing the 100 yard freestyle in 50.59. Joshua Unas took home the top prize in two events as he completed the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:59.31 and the 500 yard freestyle in 5:17.16. Unas also finished behind Gordon's Daniel Fauber (Granbury, Texas) in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:10.75.

The women 200 yard freestyle relay team of Ashlyn Deroche (North Reading, Mass.), Molly Belles (Scranton, Pa.), Lucia Llorente Ruiz (Newton, Mass.) and Jessica Higgins (Peabody, Mass.) completed the event with a time of 1:49.29 which was good for first place. Lucia Llorente Ruiz finished first in two individual events as she won the 50 yard breaststroke in 35.92 and took home first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.52. Deroche achieved two second place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle (27.25) and the 100 yard freestyle (59.13) while Belles also placed second in the 50 yard backstroke (30.43) and the 100 yard backstroke (1:06.91).

Regis returns to action next week as they host St. Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m.
