TWO MORE RECORDS FALL AT NEISDA FINALS

BOSTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's and women's swimming diving teams wrapped up the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday afternoon at Simmons College. The final day of the meet was rescheduled due to the snow storm last Sunday.

Two more school records fell and there were four more ECAC qualifying teams in Saturday's meet.

The men's 400 yard freestyle relay team of Alex Graf (Newton, Mass.), Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.), Nick Rainville (Reading, Mass.), and Cassidy Bastinelli (Newton, Mass.) broke the school record they set last year by over a second (3:12.16) and qualified for the ECAC Championships. Graf also qualifed for the ECAC Championships in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 48.72, while Luong qualified in the 200 yard butterfly.

Jessica Higgins (Peabody, Mass.) broke the school record set in 1995 in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.25 and qualified for the ECAC Championships.

Coach James Sweeney said, "It was a great opportunity to make some more qualifying times. We not only did that, we even broke two more school records. To come in and swim a week past our main focus of the NE Champs was truly amazing. Jessica swam almost 2 seconds faster than what she did last weekend and crushed the school record that was from 1995. The men's relay stepped it up and put in another new school record, and we can still go faster. Everyone who swam tonight did at least a best in season time, with most putting in lifetime best times. It was an incredible effort tonight that paid off big time. We are very excited for next weekend's ECAC Championships as we'll have our largest team going in history with 9 swimmers."
