LUONG NAMED GNAC SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College sophomore swimmer Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) has been named this week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimmer of the week it was announced on Monday afternoon. Luong led the Pride men with 36 points this past weekend and set a few conference and school records as the team took second place at the championships. This is the second time this season Luong has earned Swimmer of the Week honors.

On the first day of competition, Luong shattered the GNAC record in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 23.54; he also just narrowly missed breaking a school record by a millisecond. Luong was also part of the 400 yard medley relay team that shattered the GNAC record with a time of 3:44.27; he led off the first 100 yards of the relay and broke his own GNAC record as well.

During day two, Luong was part of the 800 yard freestyle relay squad that obliterated the GNAC record by 26 seconds and set a new school record in the process by finishing the race in 7:20.75. He also set a new GNAC mark in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.15.

The Swimming & Diving teams return to the pool after the winter break when they travel back to Simmons for a meet with Colby-Sawyer on January 17th at 1:00 p.m.
