PRIDE SWEEP GNAC WEEKLY HONORS

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College sophomore Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) has been named this week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week while teammate Nick Rainville (Reading, Mass.) has been named the Rookie of the Week it was announced on Monday afternoon. Luong and Rainville helped lead the Pride to a 127-112 win against Gordon College this past weekend.

Also named to the GNAC weekly honor roll were Shannan O'Neil (Lowell, Mass.) and Ashlyn Deroche (North Reading, Mass.). Both swimmers took home a combined five first place finishes in the Pride's 137-121 loss to the Fighting Scots.

Luong won three races this past weekend. He was a part of the 200 medley relay team that took home the top time at 1:43.10, while also adding wins in the 200 yard butterfly (2:01.24), 200 yard backstroke (2:14.54) and 200 yard individual medley (2:04.33). Nick Rainville was also a member of the 200 medley relay team and also added first place finishes in two other events; the 100 yard freestyle (50.79) and the 50 yard butterfly (25.53).

For the women, Shannan O'Neil won three individual races during the defeat to Gordon. O'Neil was a part of the 200 medley relay team that was victorious with a time of 2:01.37; she also added wins in the 50 yard freestyle (27.60) and 50 yard butterfly (29.70). Ashlyn Deroche won a pair of races this past weekend. Deroche was also a member of the 200 medley relay team and also added a win in the 100 yard freestyle (59.50).

Both teams return to the pool next Saturday when Regis travels to St. Joseph's College of Maine for a dual meet set for 1:00 p.m.
