BEARS SWEEP DUAL MEET FROM PRIDE

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University swept both halves of a dual meet with Regis College on Saturday afternoon in Bridgewater, Mass. The Bears' men team defeated the Pride, 149-96, while on the women's side, BSU picked up a 206-62 win over Regis.

On the men's side, the 200 yard medley relay team of Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.), Alex Graf (Newton, Mass.), Greg Sarantakis (Lowell, Mass.) , and Robert Ekberg (Northbridge, Mass.) took home a first place finish with a time of 1:48.68. Sarantakis added a win in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time 12:21.26, while Ekberg had the top time in the 200 yard freestyle (2:03.29). Kiet Luong had a solid day with a win in the 50 yard backstroke and butterfly, and also set a new record in the 100 yard butterfly with his time of 53.78.

Alex Graf posted a time of 22.78 in the 50 yard freestyle, good for the top time, and added a win in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.40. Robert Ekberg later added a win in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:58.02.

For the women, Haley Bowen (Litchfield, N.H.) and Lucia Llorente-Ruiz (Newton, Mass.) posted the top two times in the 50 yard breaststroke at 34.37 and 35.08, respectively. Kelly Leahy (Braintree, Mass.) finished third in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 37.32, while Amanda Iandoli (Mansfield, Mass.) finished third in the 100 yard butterfly. Llorente-Ruiz finished third in the 50 yard freestyle at 29.06 with Megan Kennelly (Milford, Mass.) adding a third place finish in the 100 yard freestyle (1:02.60).

Bowen just missed out on the top finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, coming in second with a time of 1:14.14, a mere 0.01 seconds off the first place time. She also finished second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:30.06.

The Pride return to action next Saturday afternoon with another dual meet at Gordon College at 1:00 p.m.
