REGIS CRUISES TO DUAL MEET VICTORY

STANDISH, Maine – Regis College swept both halves of a swim meet with St. Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday afternoon in Standish, Maine. The Pride men took home a 134-98 win, while the women picked up a 156-90 win in their half of the dual meet.

Coach Sweeney was, "extremely pleased with how well we swam today especially considering everyone was so tired and sore from the past two weeks of intense training. You know they are working hard when they hurt to move. Not only did we continue to swim faster at a high rate, we won several close races."

"We have been doing a lot of racing and fast swimming in practice as we look towards the upcoming GNAC Championships December 1st and 2nd, and everyone is doing a great job racing hard and racing smart. The success that we had today will continue to build and give our team confidence going in to the early championship," Sweeney added.

On the women's side, the 200 yard medley relay team of Svetlana Loranger, Lucia Liorente, Shannan O'Neil and Brenna Melanson took first place in their event with a time of 2:02.44. Loranger added a win in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:08.67, while Shannan O'Neil posted a time of 2:13.21 to win the 200 yard freestyle. Brenna Melanson won three individual events including the 50 yard backstroke (29.64), 50 yard freestyle (26.59) and 100 yard freestyle (56.50).

Amanda Iandoli took the top spot in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:12.79, while Svetlana Loranger added a win in the 100 yard backstroke (1:06.69). Haley Bowen rounded out the strong day for the Pride with wins in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:14.60) and the 200 yard IM (2:30.47).

For the men, 200 yard medley relay team of Djordje Mandic, Stephen McGovern, Andy LaForest, and Alex Graf won their event with a time of 1:50.87. Mandic added a win in the 50 yard butterfly (25.97) and McGovern took home the top spot in both the 50 yard breaststroke (31.13) and 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.69).

LaForest picked up a win in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.60 and Alex Graf posted wins in the 200 yard freestyle (1:54.34), 100 yard freestyle (50.18) and 200 yard IM (2:15.75). Nick Yerzyk had a strong day for Regis in the pool with wins in the 50 yard backstroke (27.45), 50 yard freestyle (23.25), and 100 yard backstroke (1:00.47).

Regis returns to action on December 1st when the Pride travels to Simmons College for the GNAC Championships.
