Regis Clinches 4-1 Victory

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Regis College offensive attack took control from close to the start of the match, as the Pride coined a 4-1 victory over Dean College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup at Longley Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon.

After three corner kicks and four shots from the Bulldogs, the Pride gained possession in the 16th minute to then find the back of the net with Nolan McMahon (White River Junction, Vt.) sending a cross to Haroun Mafhoum (Bellingham, Mass.) scoring the first Pride goal of the match, leading 1-0.

The Pride took three consecutive shots but was not able to get past Dean goalie Jake Godwin. Regis was able to extend its lead in the 26th minute after Mafhoum sent a leading pass to connect with Aidan Falvey (Medford, Mass.) sending the ball into the back of the net to lead 2-0.

The Bulldogs responded with a shot on goal, but Chris Alcon (Weston, Fla.) stepped up with a crucial save to keep it out of the net. Regis coined another goal just before halftime with Mafhoum sending a pass to Dane Peterson (San Diego, Calif.) to lead with three heading into the second half.

The Bulldogs did not give up, breaking through in the 57th minute featuring a goal from Drew Folley, with an assist from Jake Richard to trail by two. Regis scored its final goal of the match in the 80th minute on a corner with Joey Davila (Bristol, Conn.) placing the ball in the back right corner of the net to finish with a final of 4-1.

The Pride led 29-9 in shots, while both teams earned six corners for the match.

Alcon played 83 minutes in net for Regis making three saves off four shots.

Godwin played all 90 minutes in net for the Bulldogs making nine saves off 13 shots.

Regis concluded the regular season 5-8-4 overall and 5-7-2 in conference play. The entire bracket for the 2024 GNAC Men's Soccer Tournament is scheduled to be announced after regular season play concludes on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
