NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Regis College suffered a 5-1 defeat to Albertus Magnus on Saturday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match at Celantano Field.
The first goal of the match was scored in the 14th minute by Dorian Wilczynski after receiving the ball from Johan Stagnaro. Less than three minutes after the first goal, the Falcons doubled their lead after a shot from Lauria Lorenzo found the back of the net on a pass from Julius McNeil. Regis responded with a shot but was unable to get past Falcons goalie David Lucero.
In the 44th minute, the Falcons extended their lead to 3-0 heading into the second half.
The Pride scored in the 56th minute after Michael Cipriano (Thomaston, Conn. ) sent a pass into the box for Dane Peterson (San Diego, Calif.) to collect the ball and score off a header, closing the deficit to two.
The Falcons added two goals in the remainder of the half to finish with a final of 5-1.
Chris Alcon (Weston, Fla.) made nine saves in the first half, and two in the beginning of the second half, just before Kyle Weidemann (Piscataway, N.J.) came in to make two saves after facing two shots on goal.
Lucero finished with three saves off four shots on goal for the Falcons.
Regis (3-7-1, 3-6 GNAC) is scheduled to host Lasell University on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 4:00 p.m. Albertus (6-3-2, 6-0-1 GNAC) is set to travel to face University of Saint Joseph on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 6:00 p.m.
