Regis Drops Road Match to Pilgrims, 3-1

HENNIKER, N.H. – Regis College suffered a 3-1 defeat against New England College on Wednesday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer match.

The Pride quickly gained possession and launched an attack on the Pilgrim net, but a shot by Chris Guadagno (Miami, Fla.) was denied by New England College goalkeeper Hayden Walker.

The Pilgrims gained momentum when Darren Mota assisted on the first goal with a pass to Wyatt Elibbert. Just 44 seconds after the Pilgrims' opening goal, Mota dribbled into the box and passed to Logan Cassin, who scored the Pilgrims' second goal of the game.

Just over 23 minutes into the match, NEC broke through the Pride defense, creating an offensive opportunity just inside the box where Cassin directed the ball into the back of the net for his second goal of the game.

Late in the second half, the Pride gained possession thanks to a free kick opportunity just outside the box. Alfred Bresnahan's (Marblehead, Mass.) shot was punched away by Walker, but Cade Bretton (Burlington, Vt.) put his head on the rebound and bounced it off the turf over the goal line for his first career collegiate goal.

Regis goalie Ethan Donahue (Methuen, Mass.) made six saves during the match. Walker finished with four saves as he earned the victory.

Regis College will be traveling to the University of Saint Joseph for their next match, which is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7.
